Meal prep: three meat dishes you can freeze
Don’t have much time to be in the kitchen? That’s no reason not to eat well! The following three dishes take a one-time effort, after which they will keep for up to two months.
Now that’s meal prep as it should be!
Mealprep so easy
Last time I wrote about how to prepare meals in advance and how to store them, it’s also nice to know what you can prepare and freeze as a mealprep. These three meat dishes may take a while to prepare, but they will benefit you later, after a long day at work, after exercise or another busy time.
Quiche
A point quiche is always good. Which is just as well, because chances are slim that you’ll finish it on your own. Fortunately, you can also freeze the savory tart. This way it keeps longer and you always have something to put on the table. There are some tasty classics, but you can also get creative with a quiche.
Buying bacon and cutting it yourself instead of using ready-made bacon, for example.
Make a veggie version too
Expecting guests? Make a veggie version just in case. This can be done with spinach and goat cheese or mushrooms and walnuts.
These of course also do well for the non-vegans. For the tastiest – and therefore crispiest – result, thaw it in the refrigerator first, then heat it for 20 minutes at 180 degrees.
Lasagna
A lasagna takes a little time to make, but because you can easily freeze it you can enjoy it for a long time. For a lasagna, you most likely have all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard. And if you buy meat online, you don’t have to leave the house at all.
Nice, with the unpredictable Dutch weather.
Preparing a simple version
A simple version of a mealprep is also possible, this one you make with onion, garlic, minced meat, butter, a can of tomatoes, some milk and of course lasagna sheets. Or go for the vegetable version! Replace the standard lasagna sheets with vegetables such as zucchini or carrot. These do give off a little more moisture, so you don’t need to use as many wet ingredients.
After freezing you can easily defrost it. Put it in the oven for an hour at 200 degrees and enjoy it!
Spaghetti
A bowl of spaghetti is the ultimate comfort food and ideal as a mealprep because it is great to make in a large quantity. It is nice and warm, spicy and filling. Spaghetti can easily be made ahead of time and then frozen.
However, it is recommended to cook the pasta yourself at the moment suprême to keep the dish tasty. Of course you can make the sauce in advance.
Mealprep the sauce
Fry a white onion with some garlic and minced meat. When it is almost done you can add the vegetables. Make your own pasta sauce with fresh tomatoes or go easy on the ready-made sauce. Don’t forget to season the pasta sauce well, because in the freezer the flavors can dilute a bit.
Oregano, basil and rosemary are indispensable. Defrosting can be done within minutes in the microwave or in a non-stick pan.
Easy and healthy
Mealprep is a way to eat well and healthy every day. Since you don’t have extensive time to cook every day, just prepare a lot that one day and freeze it for another day that week or even later in the month. I find it ideal and always have something in the house for when we are late or have to leave quickly.
By mealprep, we eat healthy and tasty.
